June 27 - July 26, 2015
Zuckerman Museum of Art | Mortin Galleries
Curator: Joe Thomas
8-Bit Fictions presents recent paintings by Jason Lahr, an Indiana-based artist who is interested in the intersection of art, technology, and popular culture. In Lahr's work fragments of written narrative interact with imagery from gaming and other aspects of our digital culture, both new and old. Lahr engages with popular culture, including video games, through a wry sense of humor and sensitivity to the uses of narrative and acculturated mythologies as his artwork delves in to various aspects of cultural identity. A portion of the show will also include a group of video works by other artists, curated by Lahr, that engage similar issues.
Presented in collaboration with the Kennesaw State University Gaming Department.
