Michelle Lopez - Registrar + Collections Manager
I was born and raised in Miami, Florida and received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History from Florida International University. During my senior year, I interned at the Patricia and Phillip Frost Art Museum for the Collections and Registration Department which sparked my passion to care for museum collections. Shortly after graduating from FIU, I became the Museum Sales Associate at the Wolfsonian-FIU, where I also interned in the Registration Department, and was later promoted to Registration Database Technician. My role entailed assisting with the museum's digitization project as well as cataloging over 200 World War II lithographic posters.
I went on to receive a Masters of Art degree in Museum Studies with a concentration in Collections Management from the George Washington University. While pursuing my graduate studies, I interned in various institutions including the Textile Museum, the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History and the Smithsonian National Museum of American History. After completing my degree in 2015, I moved back to Miami and worked at the Pérez Art Museum Miami in Visitor Services before joining the Zuckerman Museum of Art as the Registrar/Collections Manager.
While not working in ZMA, I am exploring my new home here in Georgia taking in the different sites and museums. I also love movie and television trivia and trying to tackle my ever growing list of books to read.
