Who We Are
The Southeast Horn Festival is a five-day intensive masterclass series hosted by Kennesaw State University Artist-in-Residence Richard Williams. The event has established itself as a cornerstone of horn playing in the Southeastern United States and features masterclasses, lessons, quartets, horn choir, vendors, recitals, and an optional mock orchestral audition and solo competition. Our faculty consists of national and international orchestral players, soloists, solo recording artists, studio recording musicians, freelance musicians, and performance psychologists of the highest caliber.
Our event has grown substantially over the years, beginning in 2013 as the Atlanta Horn Clinic hosted by In 2017 the event moved to the Kennesaw State University School of music and was renamed the KSU Summer Horn Festival. Since this time, growth of the event has been explosive. In 2019 we experienced an enrollment increase of nearly 50% and welcomed students from four states across the Southeast.
For 2020, we are making one final name change to better reflect who we are and the scope of our event: Southeast Horn Festival.
Since 2017, our faculty has included musicians who are current or former members of the New York Philharmonic, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Oslo Philharmonic, Montreal Symphony Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria, Orchestre Symphonique de Québec, and the Orchestre Métropolitain.
