The Dance Company

The Dance Company is a pre-professional dance company that performs on campus, regionally and nationally. Students who major in dance have the opportunity to audition at the beginning of each semester (fall/spring) to be a part of the company. The mission of The Dance Company is to bring concert dance to the community, as well as serve the mission of education in dance through its outreach performances. The company tours regional venues, performing and educating students about dance as a performing art. Students in the company gain valuable touring experience while serving an important community mission. Members of The Dance Company receive academic credit for performing in season concerts, informal concerts, as well as in community partner projects.

    Kelsey Ashy

    Kelsey is a junior dance major with a concentration in modern. She has been dancing for 18 years. She danced with the Charleston Youth Company and Charleston Dance Institute. This is her third semester in the company and she is very excited to get to be a part of it again!

      Jordan Bailey

      Jordan is a freshman Elementary Education major and a dance minor. This will be her first semester being a part of the KSU dance company. She began dancing at the age of 4 where she competed with local dance studios. She is very excited to dance alongside some amazing cast members this semester.

       

      • Serena Brooks

        Serena Brooks

        Serena is a freshman Psychology major and a dance minor. This is her first semester in the KSU Dance Company. She began her dance career at age 3 and graduated from Bravo Dance Center as a member of their Advanced Company. Serena is very excited to be a part of the cast this semester and believes that she will learn a lot and grow as a dancer!

          Olivia Bryant

          Olivia is a sophomore dance major with a concentration in modern dance. She previously studied with Martha Ellen Stilwell School of the Arts and Price Performing Arts Center. This is Olivia’s fourth semester with the company, and she is thrilled to bring her choreographer's vision to life!

           

          • Grace Buckley

            Grace Buckley

            Grace is a freshman dance major with a modern concentration though she has a heavy background in ballet. She began dancing with the Lilburn School of Ballet when she was 5 and continued her training with their company, Northeast Atlanta Ballet, in 2010. She was a part of the Northeast Atlanta Ballet until the end of Spring 2018. At KSU she is looking to broaden her dance experience and become a well-rounded dancer.

             

            • Julia Captino

              Julia Captino

              Julia is a dance major with a modern concentration. This will be her first semester in the KSU dance company. She has been on the production crew for one semester. She began dancing at the age of five at various studios and then attended a performing arts magnet program throughout high school before she began her adventure with KSU Dance. Julia is thrilled to be given this amazing opportunity!

               

              • Madison Chambers

                Madison Chambers

                Madison Chambers is a freshman dance major with a modern concentration. This will be her first semester in the KSU dance company. She began her dance career at the age of 3 at Roswell City Dance and was a part of the competition company there for 7 years. Madison continued her competitive career for 6 years, moving from company to company due to the many times she moved homes. Madison then left the competition world and began her professional career dancing for Rachel Truitt with Gotta Dance Contemporary Company. Madison is so incredibly excited to be a part of the company this semester. She can not wait to learn and grow amongst her talented peers and incredible professors. Madison is sure this semester will be brilliant!

                 

                • Aubrey Clark

                  Aubrey Clark

                  Aubrey is a dance major with a modern concentration and is also studying psychology. She began dancing at 6 years old and has not been able to stop since. She was involved with the dance department at Berry College for 2 years—in which she performed as well as began her choreographic experience. This is Aubrey’s first semester in the KSU dance company, and she is very excited to be a part of the show this semester and to experience the opportunities that lie before her.

                    Meredith Culpepper

                    Meredith Culpepper is a freshman dance major with a modern concentration. She began her dance career at age 10 at Dancers’ Pointe in Tifton, Georgia and trained at that studio for 8 years and also competed in dance competitions for 8 years as well. Meredith is excited to be a part of the KSU dance company and can’t wait to see how far she comes in the KSU dance department.

                      Emmi Creamer

                      This is Emmi Creamer’s fourth year in the KSU dance department. She has been on the crew twice and part of the company twice. She grew up dancing at Buford School of Ballet and will continue dancing for as long as possible. Emmi loves the senior class and is excited to see all their work this semester!

                        Kelly DeVries

                        Kelly DeVries is a sophomore and is currently majoring in Elementary Education and minoring in Dance. She is eager to begin her third semester of being in the KSU Dance Company. She began dancing when she was three at Dance Arts Centre and hopes to continue dancing for as long as she can. She has thoroughly enjoyed her previous experiences with the KSU Dance Company and is looking forward to another great semester.

                          Hope Didier

                          Hope Didier, from Peachtree City, Georgia, is a junior, double majoring in Dance, with a Ballet Concentration and Biology. She has been dancing since the age of three and trained most recently as a Pre-Professional student at the Atlanta Ballet. Hope is thrilled to be a part of Spring Company and continue her dance education at Kennesaw State University.

                            Teyla Dubose

                            Teyla DuBose’ is a sophomore dance major with a ballet concentration. This will be her first semester in the KSU Dance Company. She started her career at the young age of 3 at Stage Door Dance Studio and later joined British Academy of Performing Arts dancing in Company for 10 years. In addition, she was a part of the Pebblebrook High school dance program for 4 years and has received several accolades along the way. She is honored to be a member of the KSU Dance Company and looks forward to the many dance opportunities in the future.

                              LaRon Foy

                              LaRon Foy is a 4th year at Kennesaw State University, dance major. His most recent credit was participating in ChoreoLAB here at Kennesaw. He has been active in the dance world for 7 years. He would like to thank the cast and crew and all of his friends and family who supported him while rehearsals were in session.

                                Madison Gallien

                                Madison is ecstatic to be apart of the KSU Dance Company this semester. She is a junior and has had the honor of training with KSU Dance for 3 years. She is pursuing a career as a professional dancer and plans to join an international dance company after graduation. Madison is very excited to be apart of this journey with the seniors and can't wait to see what else KSU Dance has in store for her.

                                  Chaes Hatfield

                                  Chaes Hatfield is a freshman at KSU and is majoring in dance with a concentration in modern. This is his second season on the KSU company. He started his dance training at a young age, starting at his own mother’s studio. He has received numerous scholarship opportunities and two dancer of the year awards at the American Dance Awards. In his free time, he enjoys spending time in the studio and hanging out with his friends and family. He is very thrilled to be a part of the KSU dance company.

                                    Katie Hooper

                                    Katie is an Atlanta native who grew up at a local competition dance studio. After 15 years of training, she went on to study with Cherrise Wakeham in Project 7 Dance Company. She also trains with the Radio City Rockettes during their summer intensive each year. While taking a break from dance, Katie became a collegiate cheerleader here at KSU and brought home a National Championship title last year. Katie also found her love for teaching young dancers and is now teaching at Rhythm Dance Center in Marietta. She is very excited to officially come out of dance retirement and honored to be apart of the KSU Dance Company for the first time.

                                      McKinley Horn

                                      McKinley Horn is a freshman dance major with a modern concentration. She has been dancing since the age of three and began dancing at Bravo Dance Company in the first grade. She was a member of Bravo’s Company for eight years, where she performed at various competitions and received multiple awards and scholarships. This will be her first semester in the KSU Dance Company, and is excited to share the stage with such talented dancers.

                                        Logan Houston

                                        Logann is a freshman dance major with a modern concentration she started her dance career at the age of 3 at Kelly’s School of Dance in Louisiana. She began dancing competitively at 6 years of age. Logann is very excited to be apart of the dance company this semester and is eager to see what else is in store for her in the future with KSU dance.

                                          Anna Jackson

                                          Anna Jackson is a freshman dance major with a concentration in ballet. This is her first semester being in the company at Kennesaw. Last semester she participated in the KSU production crew. She trained at Fleetwood Dance Theatre for 15 years in ballet, jazz, tap, musical theatre, and contemporary. She loves being a part of KSU dance and hopes to have a career in musical theatre after college.

                                            Jada is a freshman business major & dance minor. She danced on and off throughout her childhood during which she also participated in gymnastics and competition cheerleading. She began to focus more on her talents with dancing at the age of 13, at the Gwinnett Ballet Theatre. This will be her first semester with the KSU dance. She is excited to begin her journey as a company member.

                                              Kaitlin Koehn is a junior dance major with a modern concentration at Kennesaw State University. She is a transfer student from Casper Wyoming with an Associate’s Degree in Dance and Business Administration. She is excited to dance with the company for a second semester.

                                                Breanna Legant

                                                Breanna is a sophomore Communications major and a Dance major with a concentration in modern. She has been on the production crew for a semester, but this will be her first semester in the KSU Dance Company. She began dancing at the age of 3 at Steps Dance Center and later at Studio 55 Dance where she also danced competitively for 8 years. Breanna is very excited to be apart of the KSU Dance Company this semester.

                                                  Simona Lucchi is a sophomore at Kennesaw State University. This is her third semester dancing with the company at KSU. Before dancing at Kennesaw, Simona was a competitive gymnast for 10 years. She is double majoring in dance and communications. Simona is thrilled to be a part of the KSU dance company, and hopes to continue for years to come!

                                                    Ashlyn is a junior at KSU who majors in Dance with a modern concentration. She has studied various genres such as ballet, modern, and jazz along with other genres. Ashlyn has trained with Ballethnic Academy of Dance and Metayer Conservatory of The Arts. She also enjoys teaching young students who want to gain as much passion for dance as she does. Ashlyn is very excited to be apart of company and the various opportunities to come.

                                                      Sierra Mansfield

                                                      Sierra is a second-semester freshman dance major with a ballet concentration. She started her dance career with Chattanooga Ballet when she was seven and continued to dance with them for eleven years. She also danced with Center for Creative Arts for seven years. She is now excited to be a member of KSU Dance and was apart of the production crew last fall. Sierra is looking forward to being apart of company once again and remains excited for future productions

                                                        Kaley is a freshman dance major with a concentration in modern. This will be her 2nd semester at KSU. She began her dance career at age 5 at Dance Academy West and has danced competitively for 7 years, most recently at CK Danceworks. Kaley is very excited at the opportunity to be a part of the KSU Dance Company and is looking forward to seeing what the future holds!

                                                          Caroline is a junior at Kennesaw State University. This is her fourth time performing with the company. She is a dance major with a modern concentration. She danced with Dance Dynamics Studio in Macon for 15 years, the Middle Georgia Youth Ballet for 4 years, and the Nutcracker of Middle Georgia for 9 years. She also attended the Governor’s Honors Program in 2014 for Dance. She is currently the intern at Tolbert Yilmaz School of Dance.

                                                            Alyssa (Aj) Myers

                                                            Alyssa is a junior at Kennesaw State, pursuing a double major in Dance with a ballet concentration and Information Technology. Alyssa began her dance training at 5, eventually finding a home with the British Academy of Performing Arts and learned various styles of dance. After joining the KSU Dance production crew, Alyssa is excited to perform on the stage as a dancer in the KSU Dance company for the first time.

                                                              This is Valerie's fifth semester performing with the KSU Dance Company. She is a Junior Dance Major, modern concentration,  and Business Law Minor. She attended Southern Performing Arts Academy, directed by Alicia and Brandon Chitwood, and danced in their company, Southern Ballet Theatre for 5 years. Valerie and her studio also participated and performed at South East Regional Ballet Association (SERBA). She is very excited to continue her journey with the KSU dance company.

                                                                Taylor is a junior at Kennesaw State University. She is a dance major with a ballet concentration. This is her third semester in the KSU Dance company. She began her dance career at the age of 4 and has trained with the Cleveland Ballet for most her life.                                                                   Mckenzie Maxey

                                                                  Mckenzie is a current freshman at Kennesaw State University majoring in dance with a modern concentration but is also proficient in many other styles. McKenzie originally trained at West Cobb dance Explosion as a competition dancer, later on she earned a role in a professional contemporary company called Gotta Dance Contemporary. She is very honored to be a part of the KSU dance company for the second time and cannot wait for more opportunities to come!

                                                                    Layla Muhammad

                                                                    Layla Muhammad is a sophomore and also a Dance Major at Kennesaw State University in modern concentration. She has spent majority of her life training at Elevated Places Dance Company in College Park, GA. She has danced in Los Angeles for the Debby Allen Summer Intensive, New York for the Dance Theater of Harlem Summer Intensive, and she has also competed in multiple dance competitions across the country. Layla is thrilled to continue her dance journey with being a member of the KSU Dance Company.

                                                                      Bailey Jo Padgett is a third year Dance Major with a modern concentration at Kennesaw State University. She studied at The Alabama School of Fine Arts for six years. She trained at the Dance Theatre of Dalton for fourteen years, and taught for four years, before coming to Kennesaw State.                                                                           Kelci Walker is a first-year ballet concentration dance major.  She was trained at Columbia County Ballet and Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School since the age of 2. Although ballet is her true love, she is versatile in other styles as well.  She is elated to be a part of the company and looks forward to growing as the semester progresses.

                                                                            Hoke is a junior dance major with a modern concentration. This will be his third semester with the dance company. He began his dance career at nine years old with Rhythm Academy in Toccoa, GA, where he was part of their competition company for eleven years.  Hoke then went to Athens, GA where he danced with DanceFX with their company before coming to Kennesaw State. Hoke is incredibly honored to be a part of the company and is excited to see what comes next for him.

                                                                                This is Shari's third semester performing with the KSU Dance Company. She is a Junior Dance Major, modern concentration, and Business Marketing Major. Shari began dancing officially in the 10th grade, in the New Manchester High School fine arts magnet program. During her time in high school, she won awards such as: Dancer of the Year and Most Dedicated Dancer.                                                                                   Katherine is a second-year dance major with a concentration in modern. She has trained in various styles of dance including ballet, contemporary, tap, hip hop and jazz. In the future, she hopes to pursue a career in choreography or dance education.                                                                                     This is Veronica's second year as a Dance Major at Kennesaw State University and her concentration is in Modern Dance. Her dance practice took place at Academy of Ballet and Dancer's Studio Backstage/Atlanta Dance Theater where she trained in modern, ballet, contemporary, jazz, and other forms of dance.                                                                                       Deanna is a freshman dance major with a concentration in modern dance. This will be her first semester in the KSU dance company. For the past 13 years, she danced at Star Dance Studio in Newnan, GA, where she studied ballet, tap, jazz, musical theatre, lyrical, and hip hop. She was also a member of their performance company for 11 years. Throughout her career, she has received many honors and learned so much through her teachers and fellow dancers. This will be her first semester in the KSU dance company. She began her dance career at the age of 4 moving around Georgia to different companies finding her home at Tolbert Yilmaz School of Dance.                                                                                           Bre Sterling is a third-year student at Kennesaw State University. She is a dance major with a concentration in modern technique and minors in information security assurance. Her training began at five years old in Washington, DC with Black Experience Dance Troupe and Footsteps. Later moving to Georgia at 13, she trained with The Royal Dance Academy. Bre aspires to be a renowned choreographer and creative director after graduating from KSU. She is also highly thrilled to be a part of the dance company and share her gift on stage.

This is will be her second semester on company. She Started dancing at the age of two in Knoxville, Tennessee at Fusion Dance Projects. She grew up competing for ten years and is trained in multiple different styles of dance.                                                                                               Meagan Wade is a sophomore at Kennesaw State University. Meagan was born and raised in Gainesville, Georgia. She has been dancing since the age of three, most of those years being at The Gainesville Ballet Company under the instruction of Diane Callahan. Meagan hopes to continue her journey as an artist throughout her time in the dance department at KSU. She is excited to be a part of Kennesaw’s dance company for the 2019 Spring term!

                                                                                                Laura Grace Wenning is a dance major with a ballet concentration at KSU. This will be her first season performing in the dance company. She began dancing at the age of three and received most of her training from Wei Dongsheng at Atlanta Professional Dance Academy. She has been given opportunities to perform in China as well as working as a principal dancer for Antwan Session and his company Lamorris Namari Ballet. She can’t wait to see what the future holds and how she will be challenged as a dancer and artist this season.

                                                                                                  Mattie is a freshman dance major with a concentration in ballet. This will be her first semester in KSU dance company. Last semester she participated in the KSU production crew. For the past 15 years, she danced at British Academy of Performing Arts and North Georgia School of Ballet where she studied ballet, tap, jazz, and modern.                                                                                                     Taylor is a Junior dance major with a concentration in ballet. She has been dancing for seventeen years and trained at Chambers Performing Arts in multiple styles of dance. This is her fifth consecutive semester in the Kennesaw State Dance Company and has also been on the production crew for one semester.                                                                                                       Madeline is a sophomore double majoring in dance with a ballet concentration and exercise science. This is her second semester in KSU’s dance company. She trained at Gwinnett Ballet Theatre for 15 years, and spent summers training at the School of American Ballet and Miami City Ballet School.                                                                                                         Jordan is a freshman dance major with a concentration in modern. She started her dance career at the age of five at Starmaker Dance Company and has been dancing competitively for years. She enjoys teaching young kids in ballet and jazz. She has had opportunities in dance modeling where she has appeared in publications such as Dance Spirit Magazine, Pointe Magazine, and Dance Magazine. This is Jordan's second semester being a part of the KSU dance company.                                                                                                           Mary is a sophomore dance major with ballet concentration. This will be her first semester in KSU dance company. She has danced since she was 2 years old, and continued her training through her high school and pre professionally with the Cartersville City Ballet Company for 6 years.                                                                                                             Kimberlee is a sophomore Dance major with a concentration in modern and an Elementary Education major. She started dancing at the age of three and attended high school at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts in Jacksonville, Florida. This is Kimberlee’s seventeenth year of dancing. She is beyond excited to be serving her fourth consecutive semester with the KSU Dance Company.

                                                                                                              Nina is a junior dance major, with a ballet concentration. She has performed with the KSU Dance Company for two semesters and is excited to serve on crew for the spring semester. Nina began dancing at the age of 3 and has most recently trained at Atlanta Professional Dance Academy under the direction of Wei Dongsheng.

                                                                                                                Lily Helmly is a third-year dance major with a ballet concentration. She has been a part of the KSU Dance Company for four semesters and this is her second semester serving on the production crew. This year, she has the privilege of serving as president of the KSU chapter of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts.                                                                                                                   Kenadee is a freshman dance minor. This is her first semester with the KSU Dance production company. She danced for the Conyers School of Ballet for five years and with the Heritage High School Dance Academy for four years.                                                                                                                     Andrée, a Junior at KSU, is a Dance Major with a concentration in ballet; she is pursuing a career in dance education and arts administration. She has been dancing for over 18 years, beginning with training at The Academy of Dance Arts. Andrée has performed with the KSU Dance Company, and she has also been the assistant stage manager for KSU Dance Company productions.                                                                                                                       Jada is a freshman dance major with a concentration in modern. This is her first semester working with KSU's dance production team. Jada has taught and performed with Passion Works Dance Academy recently and has used her dance skills to be involved in Columbus High School's thespian troupe for 3 years. She also spends her time at home volunteering as the dance instructor at Girls Inc. of Columbus.                                                                                                                         Jamie is a junior Early Childhood Education major with a Dance minor. This is her first semester in the KSU dance company. She began her dance career at the age of 3 at Roswell City Dance and was a part of the competition company there for 8 years. She then took classes at British Academy of Performing Arts for two years. Jamie is very excited to be a part of the production crew this semester and learn what it takes to put on a fantastic show.
