A Message from Harrison Long
Welcome to the Department of Dance at Kennesaw State University. We are home to the largest collegiate dance program in Georgia and the region’s premiere Dance Theater.
The Department of Dance at KSU offers a Bachelor of Arts degree with concentrations in ballet and modern, as well as a dance minor. Regionally and nationally accomplished faculty and guest artists provide our students with a high standard of education in our state-of-the-art dance facilities at Chastain Pointe. Experiences in dance production and stage management prepare our students as well-rounded practitioners in the field.
Our collaborations and partnerships with the region’s premiere art organizations distinguish our program, and give our students opportunities to perform, choreograph, teach, and study at leading professional venues. Our education abroad program in Israel with the world-famous Batsheva Dance Company illustrates our program’s mission to be on the cutting edge of the field. KSU Dance majors and alumni are highly sought after by local artists in Atlanta, and are successful in communities across the country.
The KSU Dance Company is one of the few companies in the history of the American College Dance Festival to have five national invitations to perform at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC. This distinction, along with eight regional gala selections, rank the Department of Dance at KSU as a leading dance program among peer institutions in Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, and South Carolina.
It is our goal to actively serve and be a part of the Atlanta community by creating programming on campus and beyond. The KSU Dance Festival and Summer Dance Intensive provide opportunities for high school students to experience collegiate dance education at KSU. The 2018-19 class of more than 100 dance majors is set to enrich the Atlanta area with public performances, educational outreach, scholarly presentations, and innovative artistry.
We invite you to visit the Department of Dance at KSU to learn more about our rigorous curriculum and innovative performance season.
