Welcome to the College of the Arts’ Summer Arts Intensives! These one-week, non-residential programs are perfect for young artists who are serious about honing their craft and learning more about what it is like to pursue college-level work in the arts. We invite you to explore our offerings and experience the arts at KSU. 

The cost of the intensive is $295 for the week and includes lunch each day. Please register as early as possible as many of these intensives fill up quickly.

  • The KSU Summer Acting Intensive offers a one-week, non-residential program for high school students who are dedicated to the art of acting. Students in this intensive will collaborate with like-minded peers and be taught by the accomplished KSU performance faculty.  Master classes in acting, movement, voice and improvisation will culminate in a final performance.     The KSU Summer Musical Theatre Intensive offers a one-week, non-residential program for high school students who are serious about honing the necessary skills to perform in musical theatre on the collegiate level. Acting, dance and vocal skills workshops will be led by KSU faculty and local professionals. The week-long sessions will culminate in a musical theatre presentation performed by the workshop participants. This program is limited to 25 participants, so please register early! Read More

    The intensive is open to rising 9th - 12th grade students and College Freshman.

    Cost of the intensive: $295 and includes lunch in the nationally recognized KSU Dining Commons, Monday-Friday.

  • The KSU Summer Art Intensive offers a one-week, non-residential program for high school students interested in the visual arts. Students will explore a variety of media such as ceramics, mixed media, drawing, painting, animation and book arts/printmaking with KSU faculty and students. The intensive is designed to help students further develop their skills and creativity, and strengthen their portfolios. A pin-up show at the end of the week will highlight student work. The School of Art & Design also offers incentive scholarships every year to outstanding students who attend the intensive. Read More

    The KSU Summer Dance Intensive offers a non-residential program for high school students who want the opportunity to experience technical and artistic growth in an environment that fosters creativity and learning. Students will study with dance professors at KSU, and experience classes in modern, ballet, African, jazz, tap, dance history and kinesiology. Faculty will stage choreographic repertory that will be performed by the students in a concert at the end of the intensive. The Department of Dance at KSU also offers incentive scholarships every year to outstanding high school seniors who attend the intensive. Read More

  • The Summer Music Experience at KSU is a unique program that engages students artistically, technically, and conceptually as both individual musicians and collaborative groups. Performance opportunities in large and small ensembles will challenge students at the personal level. Working with renowned KSU faculty performers and current KSU music students will develop participants' technical abilities, expand their creativity, and enhance their passion for music in an atmosphere of artistic and intellectual discovery. Participants will collaborate with peers across an array of musical disciplines in focused daily activities that culminate in fun and engaging group activities. They will learn more about diverse topics ranging from creativity and improvisation to composition and music technology. They will also participate in an exchange of ideas with KSU students, fellow peers, and the accomplished KSU faculty in a variety of academic classes, rehearsals, instrument-specific tech classes, and various collaborative experiences throughout each day.

    Students may participate in the following areas: band, orchestra, choral, classical guitar, and piano. The cost for the Summer Music Intensive is $295 per student and includes lunch each day.Read More
