  • "In The Spirit" - Atlanta Pops Orchestra with John Driskell Hopkins

    The performance features a very special holiday collaboration between John Driskell Hopkins, founding member of three-time GRAMMY® Award winning Zac Brown Band, and the Atlanta Pops Orchestra. John and the Orchestra collaborated to write and record the 2015 release "In The Spirit: A Celebration of the Holidays" which combines the classic sound of holiday favorites with new, modern arrangements written by KSU jazz faculty member Wes Funderburk. Tickets for this performance are $25-55.

    **This performance will begin at 3pm.** An exciting highlight each season, the School of Music is proud to present the 12th Annual Collage Concert on Saturday, February 3. Collage, a major fundraising event for supporting scholarships for music students, is the signature production of the School of Music featuring soloists, chamber groups, and ensembles totaling over 250 student and faculty performers. This special production features a rapid-fire program of diverse works presented as flowing vignette performances with unique lighting and stage design that combine to create a truly memorable and unique experience.

    Equally at home in a multitude of musical styles, Allen Vizzutti has visited 40 countries and every state in the union to perform with a rainbow of artists and ensembles including Chick Corea, 'Doc' Severinsen, the NBC Tonight Show Band, the Airmen Of Note, the Army Blues and Army Symphony Orchestra, Chuck Mangione, Woody Herman, Japan’s NHK Orchestra and the New Tokyo Philharmonic, the Budapest Radio Orchestra, and many more. Performing as a classical and a jazz artist, often in the same evening, he has appeared as guest soloist with symphony orchestras in Tokyo, Germany, St. Louis, Seattle, Rochester N.Y., Syracuse, Milwaukee, Buffalo, Phoenix, Croatia, Slovenia, Edmonton, Vancouver, Winnipeg, and others. Tickets for this performance are $12-15.

    The Vega String Quartet, Quartet-in-Residence at Emory University, is cultivating a new generation of chamber music lovers through dynamic performances and innovative community engagement. The New York Times raved that "[the Quartet’s] playing had a kind of clean intoxication to it, pulling the listener along…the musicians took real risks in their music making." They perform both nationally and internationally, most recently in Baltimore, Chicago, Nashville, Sacramento, Berlin, San Miguel, and the Brahmssaal in Vienna’s Musikverein. Tickets for this performance are $18-25.
