Art Intensive

The KSU Summer Visual Arts Clinic allows high school students to experience life as a KSU visual arts major. Through this experience you will explore a variety of media such as ceramics, mixed media, drawing, software and Internet applications, technology, bookmaking, and printmaking with KSU faculty and/or visual arts majors. This weeklong clinic gives students the chance to further develop their skills and strengthen their portfolios while enhancing their creativity. Participants will also have opportunities to interact with students in music, dance, and musical theatre. At the end of the week, a pin-up show will highlight student work. There is a $30 material fee and remember seating is limited to 15 students, so apply early!

Dance Intensive

Save the dates: June 1-6, 2014

The KSU Summer Dance Intensive provides high school students an opportunity to experience technical and artistic growth in an environment that fosters creativity and learning. Students will study with dance professors at KSU, and experience a variety of dance technique and theoretical courses that are an integral part of dance education at this university. Students will take classes in modern, ballet, African and jazz technique, as well as experience theory classes in dance history and kinesiology. Faculty will set choreographic repertory that will be performed by the students in a concert at the end of the intensive. The Department of Dance at KSU also offers incentive scholarships every year to outstanding students who attend the intensive.

The clinic is open to rising 9th-12th grade students, and rising college freshmen.

Students perform in a string ensemble or wind ensemble, and full orchestra or jazz ensemble. Each day has dedicated time for chamber music with a faculty coach.

This is a terrific opportunity for serious high school pianists looking to improve their skills. Students will receive individual instruction, work in small groups, and take part in full camp offerings. Apply early to ensure a space in this limited-enrollment camp.

Musical Theatre Intensive

The musical theatre intensive is offered to high school studnets who are serious about honing the necessary skills to perform in musical theatre on the collegiate level. Acting, dance, and vocal skills workshops will be led by KSU faculty and local professionals. The weeklong sessions will culminate in a musical theatre  presentation performed by the workshop participants.

Acting Intensive

Test your mettel: immerse yourself in the actor’s craft! This five-day program is designed for students who are dedicated to the art of acting. Participants will collaborate with like-minded peers and be taught by the accomplished professional theatre artists of KSU’s award-winning performance faculty.

Master classes in acting, movement, voice & speech and stage combat will culminate in a final performance.

This program is limited to 20 participants so please register early.
