The KSU Dance Company is a pre-professional dance company that performs on campus, regionally and nationally. Students who major or minor in dance have the opportunity to audition at the beginning of each semester (fall/spring) to be a part of the company. The mission of the KSU Dance Company is to bring concert dance to the community, as well as serve the mission of education in dance through its outreach performances. The company tours regional venues, performing and educating students about dance as a performing art. Students in the company gain valuable touring experience while serving an important community mission. Members of the KSU Dance Company receive academic credit for performing in season concerts, informal concerts, as well as in community partner projects.
Spring 2017 KSU Dance Company
Isabella Akel was born and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas. She started dancing at
age four and hasn't stopped her journey yet. Isabella is in her first year at KSU
as a dance major, having a ballet concentration. Isabella was in Dance Dynamics company
in Little Rock till she graduated high school. She attended the Long Beach Ballet
Intensive in the summer twice. The first time, she danced for three weeks, and the
second she danced for six weeks and traveled to China with the intensive. In her free
time, she likes to go to Dance 411 in the city to get her hip hop moves on.
Kelsey Ashy is a freshmen at KSU and majors in Dance with a modern concentration. She has been dancing for fifteen years and studied with the Charleston Dance Institute and the Charleston Youth Company. This is her first semester in the KSU Dance Company and she is very excited to be a part of it.
Maggie Boggs is a freshman dance major, and she is thrilled to be in the KSU Dance Company for the first time. After training under Eleanor Rogers at Still Pointe Studios for eight years, Maggie decided to continue her dance education at KSU, where she is specializing in ballet. Maggie also feels blessed to have recently danced with Bluebird Uncaged, a dance collective in the Atlanta area.
Ethan Brasseaux is a freshman dance major this year at Kennesaw State University. Ethan comes from Elite Dance Academy, Inc. in Phenix City, Alabama, where he was apart of the competition team. Ethan has trained in jazz, tap, musical theatre, hip hop, lyrical, contemporary, ballet, and jazz funk! Aside from dance, musical theatre is a huge part of his life. This is his second semester performing in the company and he hopes to be apart of the KSU Dance Company for many years to come!
Gabrielle Duncan is a sophomore here at Kennesaw State University with a major in dance. This is her second semester being apart of the Kennesaw State Dance Company.
Briannajoy Ebunola has been dancing for 11 years. She has studied african dance, jazz, modern, lyrical, contemporary, tap, hip hop, heels, ballet, and ballroom. She has also done various summer intensives at her former studios and at AMDA's high school summer conservatory.
Avery Gillham is excited to be part of the KSU Dance company this semester. He has been dancing for 13 years, studying in many different styles at Great Gig Dance Co. He has previously been seen with the Atlanta Lyric Theater in West Side Story, Mel Brook's Young Frankenstein, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, as well as Tris Day's music video Bones. He would like to thank the faculty of KSU's Dance Program and his friends and family for all the support.
Bailey is a second year dance and psychology major at Kennesaw State University. Her primary training was received at Buford School of Ballet, where she was taught the fundamental techniques of classical ballet and modern dance. She is thrilled to be spending her fourth consecutive semester as a member of the KSU dance company.
Jaslyn is a junior at KSU and majors in Dance with a concentration in Modern. Before attending KSU, she was a dance double major at Pebblebrook Highschool's Cobb County Center for Excellence in the Performing Arts, and Founded the Pebblebrook Platinum Dance Team during her freshman year. She is now working as a dance administrative intern with Dance Canvas, and aspires to become a professional dancer in the hip hop industry after graduation.
Marion Hawkins, a junior psychology major and dance minor, has performed roles for the Dalton audiences for years. Some roles include The Dewdrop and Harelequin from the Nutcracker as well as ensemble in many contemporary pieces. She would like to thank the Kennesaw dance department for this wonderful opportunity and the audience for coming to support the department.
Michaela Heide is a freshman at Kennesaw State and is majoring in dance with a concentration in ballet. She previously trained under Jean Weaver and Alice Sheridan at Dance Arts Studio. Michaela has also attended multiple summer intensives for dance, including The Harid Conservatory and the Governors Honors Program. She is very excited to start her second semester dancing with the KSU Dance Company.
Sydney Hilliard is a Junior Dance major with a concentration in Modern. She wants to pursue a career in teaching dance and start her own dance company.
Maia Jackson is a dance major at Kennesaw State University and has attended New Manchester High School. She has been dance line captain at her high school her senior year while also participating in many school productions including Once on this island, Xanadu, and Glitz and Glam. She plans to move to New York after her four years at Kennesaw and Pursue her dream of being on Broadway.
Nicole Koontz is a Sophomore here at Kennesaw State University where she is working toward two bachelor degrees in Psychology and Dance. She is from Snellville, Georgia where she trained with the Northeast Atlanta Ballet and the Brookwood High School Dance Department. Nicole attended Georgia College and State University for her freshman year where she was a Psychology major and double minor in Dance and Creative Arts Therapy, but transferred to Kennesaw in Fall 2016. She has studied Classical Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Tap, and various Ballroom styles; she has also choreographed numerous pieces and has gone back to her home department to guest choreograph and teach. Nicole is very excited to be in company this semester and is looking forward to her relationship with Kennesaw State University.
This is her first semester at KSU. She is a freshman ( sophomore credits) and a dance major with a modern concentration. She was apart of the Peachtree Ridge High School dance program for 4 years, directed by Courtney Ondre. She attended Southern Performing Arts Academy, directed by Alicia and Brandon Chitwood, and danced in their company, Southern Ballet Theatre for 5 years. Together, she and her studio have participated and performed at South East Regional Ballet Association ( SERBA). She is very excited to start her journey with the KSU dance company.
Kirklyn Malone is a second semester junior here at KSU, she is working on a major in dance with a concentration in ballet, and a minor in management. Prior to Kennesaw, Kirklyn studied at Fleetwood Dance Center for 15 years. This will be her 4rd semester in company and is very excited to be apart of Spring company again.
Caroline Mayfield is a freshman Dance major and has been dancing for 15 years. She was a member of Dance Dynamics Dance Company, the Middle Georgia Youth Ballet, and the Nutcracker of Middle Georgia. She also attended the Governors Honors Program for Dance in 2014.
Jordan Silas is a sophomore at Kennesaw State University. She is double majoring in Marketing and Dance, with a concentration in ballet. This is her third semester with the KSU Dance Company and she is thrilled to be a part of this amazing program.
Jordan has been dancing since she was two and has taken master classes with various companies such as The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, The Joffrey Ballet, and others. This is her fourth semester with Kennesaw State University's Dance Company. She is so glad and grateful to be dancing in this department.
Mia Spangler is a freshman at KSU and her first semester in company. Previously she studied dance at Dance Dynamics Studio in Macon Georgia. Additionally, she was a member of Dance Dynamics Company for seven years. Mia is very excited to be a part of the KSU Department of Dance and company.
Calla is a junior at KSU. She is a dance major with a concentration in ballet and is in the KSU Dance Company for the fifth semester. Prior to attending KSU, Calla attended the Madison Studio of Dance Education in Macon, GA for 8 years.
Claire Weed is from Duluth, Georgia and has been dancing for 15 years. She comes from a competitive background, performing various styles such as ballet, contemporary, hip hop, jazz, and, her favorite, lyrical. She was a part of the KSU Dance Company both Fall and Spring semesters last year and is looking forward to being a part of KSU Dance Company this semester.

Hope Didier, from Peachtree City, Georgia, is a freshman, double majoring in Dance with a Ballet Concentration and Biology. She has been dancing since the age of three and trained most recently as a Pre-Professional student at the Atlanta Ballet. Hope is thrilled to continue her dance education at Kennesaw State University, while further growing in her technique in all areas of dance.
Sarah Gunter- Assistant Stage Manager for student spring concert
Sarah Gunter is a sophomore, double majoring in Dance and Biology, and has
been a part of the KSU Dance Company for three semesters. Sarah is very
excited to be a member of the production crew this semester. She has been
dancing since the age of four and most recently trained at Atlanta Academy
of Ballet and Dance. Beyond dance, Sarah greatly enjoys reading and
volunteering wth different organizations and at her church.
Julia Hodges is a freshman at Kennesaw State University, majoring in Dance with a concentration in Modern. She most recently studied at The Dance Centre for 10 years and is excited to be a part of the spring semester KSU Dance Company Production Crew.
Linzi has been dancing since the age of two, beginning her training in Hinesville, GA at Dancing Unlimited where she trained in all styles and danced competitively. After moving she continued her training with the Georgia College and State University community dance program focusing on ballet. During this time Linzi was cast as Clara in the Nutcracker and participated in Joffery summer intensives. She later returned to other dance styles in high school. Linzi is a transfer student beginning her collegiate studies of dance this semester; she is very excited to continue her dance education at KSU.

Christy Neal is a junior here at KSU majoring in dance. This is her second time in crew. She plans to pursue a career in production in the future.
