The KSU Dance Company is a pre-professional dance company that performs on campus, regionally and nationally. Students who major or minor in dance have the opportunity to audition at the beginning of each semester (fall/spring) to be a part of the company. The mission of the KSU Dance Company is to bring concert dance to the community, as well as serve the mission of education in dance through its outreach performances. The company tours regional venues, performing and educating students about dance as a performing art. Students in the company gain valuable touring experience while serving an important community mission. Members of the KSU Dance Company receive academic credit for performing in season concerts, informal concerts, as well as in community partner projects.
Spring 2018 KSU Dance Company
Isabella Akel is in her second year at Kennesaw State University as a dance major. She is focusing on ballet, but she also has other skills that she likes to do on stage and in the studio. Her hometown is Little Rock, Arkansas and was in a dance company called Dance Dynamics Company Little Rock where she trained in ballet, jazz, contemporary, tap, and hip hop. Her two favorite genres of dance is ballet and hip hop.
Maggie is a junior at Kennesaw State University, where she studies English and Dance. She is very excited to be a part of the KSU Dance Company a second time. Maggie loves dancing as well as choreographing, and she feels very blessed to have done both for Bluebird Uncaged, a dance collective based in the Atlanta area. She is also thrilled to be studying dance from the incredible faculty of the KSU Dance Department.
Anna Bosworth is a sophomore at Kennesaw State University and is a Dance Minor and a Business Management Major. This is her first semester in the Kennesaw State dance company, and she is happy to have been casted for this semester's show.
Dixie is a junior at Kennesaw State as a dance major with a focus in classical ballet, as well as a double major in foreign languages, specializing in French and Spanish. She received her training at Valdosta School of Dance, where she was taught fundamental techniques of classical ballet, jazz, and modern. She is honored and excited to be participating in her third semester as a member of the KSU dance company.
Ethan is a sophomore dance major this year at Kennesaw State University. Ethan comes from Elite Dance Academy, Inc. in Phenix City, Alabama, where he was a part of the competition company. Ethan has trained in jazz, tap, musical theatre, hip hop, lyrical, contemporary, ballet, modern, and jazz funk! Currently, Ethan teaches various classes at Studio 55 Dance. Aside from dance, musical theatre is a huge part of his life. This is his fourth consecutive semester performing in the company and he hopes to be a part of the KSU Dance Company for many years to come!
Olivia is a first year dance major with a concentration in modern dance. She previously studied with Martha Ellen Stilwell School of the Arts and Price Performing Arts Center. This is Olivia’s second consecutive semester with the company, and she is thrilled to perform.
Victoria is a Junior at Kennesaw Dance State University. This is her third time in the Dance company. She is looking forward to working with two phenomenal seniors.
Chloe Davis comes from a military family where she has had the opportunity to live in different areas of the world. She is a transfer student from Georgia Perimeter College where she received an Associate of Science degree. This is her fourth semester at Kennesaw State University where she is pursuing a BA in Dance with a concentration in Modern Dance and this will be her first time being a member of the KSU Dance Company. She has been trained in different styles of dance under the direction of Sherrie Gulledge, Performing Arts Studio in Sumter, SC. In addition to her training, she does liturgical dance at her church Revelead Life Church in Lilburn, GA.
Hope Didier, is a Sophomore and is double majoring in Dance and Biology, Pre-Med. She has been dancing since the age of three and trained most recently as a Pre-Professional student at the Atlanta Ballet. Hope is thrilled to continue her dance education at Kennesaw State University and perform with the KSU Dance Company. She has already enjoyed being a part of the production crew and served as Stage Manager of the Fall 2017 show. Hope also serves as an officer for the Kennesaw Chapter of The National Honors Society for Dance Arts.
Kelly is a freshman at KSU and this is her second semester in the KSU Dance Company. She previously danced at Dance Arts Centre for 15 years with their performing arts company. Kelly is a dance minor and will continue to pursue dance throughout the rest of her college experience. She plans on majoring in Early Childhood Dance and wants to be a dance teacher. Kelly is thrilled to be a part of this amazing dance company and looks forward to making strong friendships throughout the experience.
Monika has been dancing for 17 years and has trained in classical ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, modern, clogging, and examined with high commendation through Cecchetti Intermediate/Advanced 1 syllabus (grade 6). Monika began her training in North Carolina before moving to Georgia where she most recently trained in Johns Creek and Suwanee with Atlanta Professional Dance Academy and Suwanee Academy of the Arts. She traveled to China 6 times last year dancing with APDA to perform and compete in the televised industry. Monika is currently a Dance Major (ballet concentration) and German Minor in her junior year at KSU and is very excited to have the opportunity to perform with the KSU Dance Company once again this semester.
Madison Gallien is a sophomore at Kennesaw State University. She is very thrilled to be joining the KSU Dance Company this semester. She plans to major in dance and eventually open up her own dance studio. During her free time, she likes to listen to music, play the guitar, and read the Bible.
Bailey is a third year dance major at KSU. She received her primary training at Buford School of Ballet, where she was taught the fundamental techniques of classical ballet and modern dance. She is honored to spend her sixth consecutive semester as a member of the company, and serve in her second semester as the company secretary.
Sierra Harris is a senior Psychology major and Dance minor at Kennesaw State University. Ever since the age of two, she has continued to expand her dance experience to include multiple styles. Sierra plans on attending graduate school to become a Dance therapist after graduation.
Michaela is a sophomore ballet concentration at Kennesaw. She has been dancing for 17 years. Michaela is excited to be apart of the KSU dance company for the 4th semester.
Lily is a sophomore dance major with a ballet concentration. This will be her third semester in the KSU dance company and she also has been on production crew for a semester. She began her dance career at the age of 3 at British Academy of Performing Arts and was a part of the company there for 11 years. Lily is very excited to be a part of the company this semester and see what else is in store in the future with KSU dance.
Lauren Ashley Jones is a freshmen with an Exercise Science-Interest Major with a minor in dance. She has trained and performed as a competitive company dancer at Studio Dance Inc. for eight years. This is Lauren's first year being apart of the Kennesaw Dance Company and is excited for the adventures ahead.
Dominique is a Sophomore at Kennesaw State University. She is double majoring in Business Marketing and Dance with a modern concentration. Dominique began dancing when she was 3 and plans on opening her own dance studio in the future.
Amber is a junior at Kennesaw State University studying as a dance major with a concentration in modern. This will be her 5th consecutive semester as a member of the KSU Dance Company. She is thrilled to be performing again with the company this fall and at ACDA in the spring.
Kaitlin Koehn is a transfer student from Riverton, Wyoming. She has an Associate’s Degree in both Dance Performance and Business Administration from Casper College. She performed in dance shows Carmina Burana and Charlotte’s Web, as well as the musical, Pippin. Kaitlin plans on attending graduate school to continue her dance education.
Nicole is a Junior here at Kennesaw State University where she is working toward two bachelor degrees in Psychology and Dance. She is from Snellville, Georgia where she trained with the Northeast Atlanta Ballet and the Brookwood High School Dance Department. She has studied Classical Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Tap, and various Ballroom styles; she has also choreographed numerous pieces and has gone back to her home department to guest choreograph and teach. Nicole is very excited to be in company this semester and is looking forward to her relationship with Kennesaw State University.
Amber has been at KSU dance since 2013. She originally danced with Steps Of Faith dance studio in Cartersville Georgia. This is her fourth time in company and second time in the spring show. She is a junior with a focus in ballet. She hopes to pursue a career in dance and eventually own her own studio.
Darvensky Louis is a sophomore at Kennesaw State University. This is his fourth semester with the company. He is a dance major and is also a modern concentration. He has had the opportunity to film and dance for some major dance companies like Terminus Modern Ballet Theatre and Gotta Dance Contemporary. Darvensky is excited and ready for a challenging semester with the Kennesaw dance company.
This is Valerie's third semester at KSU and performing with the KSU Dance Company. She is a sophomore dance major with a modern concentration. She attended Southern Performing Arts Academy, directed by Alicia and Brandon Chitwood, and danced in their company, Southern Ballet Theatre for 5 years. Valerie and her studio also participated and performed at South East Regional Ballet Association (SERBA). She is very excited to continue her journey with the KSU dance company.
Simona Lucchi is a freshman at Kennesaw State University. This is her second semester in the KSU dance company. Previous to dance, Simona was a competitive gymnast for 10 years. She is double majoring in dance and communications. Simona is thrilled to be a part of the KSU dance company, and hopes to continue for years to come!
Ashlyn is a sophomore at KSU who majors in Dance with a modern concentration. She has studied various genres such as ballet, modern, and jazz along with other genres. Ashlyn has trained with Ballethnic Academy of Dance and Metayer Conservatory of The Arts. She also enjoys teaching young students who wants to gain as much passion for dance as she does. Ashlyn is very excited for her first semester in company and the various opportunities to come.
Christina Maggitas is a freshman at Kennesaw State University where she is majoring in dance with a concentration in modern. She has been dancing for 16 years and previously danced with South Georgia Ballet Conservatory. This is her second semester with the KSU dance company and she is thrilled to be a part of the program.
Caroline is a sophomore modern concentration. She has been dancing for 16 years. She was a member of the Dance Dynamics Company as well as the Middle Georgia Youth Ballet. This is her 3rd semester as a member of the KSU Dance Company.
Kelli is a junior at Kennesaw State University. She is a Communication major with a concentration in Media Studies and Entertainment, as well as an International Affairs and Dance minor. Kelli danced competitively for 8 years, and is trained in ballet, jazz, hip hop, and contemporary. She is very excited to start her first semester in the KSU Dance Company.
Madeline Moore is a first year at Kennesaw State. She previously studied with the Covington Regional Ballet under the direction of Ashley and Peter Swan. This is her second semester in the dance company and is excited to work with this year's seniors.
Layla Muhammad is a freshman and also a Dance Major at Kennesaw State University in modern concentration. She has spent majority of her life training at Elevated Places Dance Company in College Park, GA. She has danced in Los Angeles for the Debby Allen Summer Intensive, New York for the Dance Theater of Harlem Summer Intensive, and she has also competed in multiple dance competitions across the country.
Hoke Payne was born in Toccoa Georgia on January 16th, 1998. He has been dancing since he was nine years old. He started at Rhythm Academy Dance Company in his home town. He then went on to join the DanceFX company in Athens, Georgia. He plans to continue to get a degree in Dance with a focus on modern.
Mickel Peace began dancing at the age of 6, she attended various performing arts schools majoring in dance and drama. She has been seen on TV on several separate occasions dancing. Mickel volunteers for the KIDDS Dance Project. She has been on several dance teams throughout her career and is excited to be with the Kennesaw State Dance Department.
Shari Purnell is a sophomore dance major with a modern concentration. She has been dancing since she was 14, and has been trained in ballet, modern, jazz, tap, and heels. Shari Purnell is a member of the National Honors Society for Dance Arts, and the African American Student Alliance at Kennesaw State University.
Faith is a junior getting a major in business and a minor in dance. She has been dancing she since was seven and has a background in ballet, jazz, tap, modern, and hip hop. This is her first semester in the KSU dance company. Faith is thrilled to be a new part of the company.
Erin Ryan is a freshman dance major and this is her first semester as a part in the KSU Dance Company. Erin participated in Production last fall and enjoyed her time working backstage. Erin is excited to explore and learn from the rehearsal and performance aspect of the KSU Dance Company.
Veronica is a Junior at Kennesaw State University and is dance major with a concentration in modern. She has been dancing for 7 years under the training of Academy of Ballet, Dancer's Studio Backstage, and Atlanta Dance Theater. This is her first semester as a dance major and she is so excited to be part of the KSU Dance Company!
Amir is a Junior at Kennesaw State. She is a ballet concentration originally from Baltimore, Maryland. This is her third semester with the dance company and she is excited to be serving as the president this year.
Andrée is a Sophomore, KSU Dance Major with a concentration in ballet. She was the Assistant Stage Manager for the Company's fall concert, but this is her first time dancing with the KSU Dance Company. Andrée is excited to perform with the company and work closely with the choreographers and other company members.
Jordan is a junior dance major with a modern concentration. She has been exposed to various dance forms throughout her life such as ballet, tap, modern, jazz, Bharatnatyam, and the Gaga movement language. She is excited to be a part of the KSU dance company again.
Emma Steele is a freshman at KSU and majors in Dance with a ballet concentration. She is also a first year company member. She has been dancing for fifteen years, she previously studied at Bravo Dance Center in their company. Emma is excited to be a member of the company and can’t wait to perform.
Bre was born and raised in Washington D.C. After relocating from D.C to Buford Georgia, Bre trained with The Royal Dance Academy. She has been dancing for 14 years and is a modern concentration dance major, with a minor in computer information systems. She is excited to be a apart of the KSU Dance company as a sophomore.
Char Tep is a freshman at Kennesaw State University and is majoring in dance. Char has been dancing for 11 years with Sugarloaf Ballet. When Char was 14, she underwent a spinal fusion to align her spine and improve her scoliosis. Currently, she is a modern concentration and aspires to be in a contemporary company and choreograph in the future. Char is excited to be apart of the KSU Dance Company this semester!
Katie Von Wedel
Katie von Wedel is a second semester freshman at KSU. Katie has been dancing 17 years at Fusion Dance Project in Knoxville, Tennesssee. She has a competitive dance background, and is excited to step out of her comfort zone. She looks forward to forwarding her studies here at KSU and is very excited to be a part of company!
Meagan Wade is a first semester Freshman at Kennesaw State University. Meagan was born and raised in Gainesville, Georgia. She has been dancing since the age of three, most of those years being at The Gainesville Ballet Company under the instruction of Diane Callahan. Meagan hopes to continue her journey as an artist throughout her time in the dance department at KSU. She is excited to be apart of Kennesaw’s dance company for the 2018 spring term!
Leslie is a senior sociology major and dance minor at Kennesaw State University. Originally from Johns Creek, GA she has danced for 16 years studying many different styles of dance. She recently transferred from Valdosta State University where she performed with the VSU Dance Program for 2 years. This will be her first semester with the KSU Dance Company and is thrilled to have this awesome experience.
Taylor is a Sophmore dance major with a concentration in ballet. She has been dancing for 16 years and has been trained in multiple styles of dance. This is her third consecutive semester in the Kennesaw State Dance Company. She is very excited to be a part of the Kennesaw State University Dance Company once again this semester!
Emily is a Sophmore dance major with a ballet concentration at Kennesaw State as well as a Biology major. In high school, Emily was Sugar Plum Fairy in the 2016 performance of The Nutcracker, and she also performed as Odette in the 2016 performance of Swan Lake. In the Fall 2017 semester, Emily performed in "The Ties that Bind" in the show "Suspended Vision." She is excited to expand her performance experience through the Kennesaw State University Dance Company.
Taylor is a freshman Dance Major with a concentration in Modern. She has been dancing for 16 years and is now leaping into her second semester in the KSU Dance Company. Taylor has many dance performances behind her, including ABC’s Christmas parade at both Disneyland, California and Disney World, Florida along with Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. She can't wait to experience another semester in the KSU Dance Company.
Kimberlee is a freshman at Kennesaw State University. She is majoring in dance with a concentration in modern and also majoring in education. She started dancing at the age of three and attended high school at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts in Jacksonville, Florida as a dance major. This is Kimberlee’s sixteenth year of dancing and is beyond excited to serve her second semester on the KSU dance company.
Spring 2018 Production Crew
Kelsey is a sophomore at KSU and majors in Dance with a modern concentration. She has been dancing for sixteen years and studied with the Charleston Dance Institute and the Charleston Youth Company. This is her second semester in the KSU Dance Company and she is very excited to be a part of it.
Sarah is a junior at Kennesaw State University and is double majoring in Biology and Dance with a concentration in ballet. This will be Sarah's fourth semester as a part of the performance company, and she has served as assistant stage manager on the production crew. Prior to attending KSU, Sarah trained extensively at Atlanta Academy of Ballet and Dance, where she now has the honor of teaching. She is also actively involved at her church where she is a small group leader with the student ministry. Additionally, Sarah has the honor of serving as an officer for the Kennesaw State chapter of NHSDA and is very excited to see what this semester of company will hold.
Megan is a sophomore dance major with a concentration in ballet. She previously trained and now teaches at Hickory Flat Dance Academy. Megan has been a part of the KSU Dance Company for one semester and this is her second semester being on the KSU Dance Production Crew. She is excited to learn more about the production side of dance and is very excited to be a part of the KSU Dance program.
Olivia is from Nassau, Bahamas and transferred to Kennesaw State University two years ago. She is currently a junior, majoring in dance (modern concentration) with a minor in marketing. This is her first time working with the Production Crew and she is excited to learn.
